“People think their hand is wider than it actually is,” said Longo. He said they also seemed to think their fingers were shorter than their true lengths. 

倫敦大學(xué)學(xué)院的一項調(diào)查研究發(fā)現(xiàn)，人的手指，通常比我們自己認(rèn)為的更細(xì)更長。

Longo said our brains “see” areas based on our sense of touch, with the stronger the sense of touch in a specific body part, the bigger that body part seems. 

人體通過軀體感覺系統(tǒng)，來感知外部。某個部位的觸感越強(qiáng)烈，大腦會認(rèn)為這個部分越大。

An example is our lips. As they have more nerves (神經(jīng)) than our noses, our brain’s map shows our lips are bigger. The same thing can happen with body parts that have a lot of nerves. If you’ve ever had something stuck in your teeth, it probably felt huge! That’s because our tongues also have lots of nerves.

嘴唇就是個例子！因為嘴唇比鼻子有更多的神經(jīng)，所以我們的大腦會覺得嘴比較大。再舉個更生活化的例子：你塞牙的時候，是不是感覺塞進(jìn)的異物好大一個……其實這也是舌頭的豐富神經(jīng)搞的鬼！
