幾年前，暢銷書作家尼古拉斯·卡爾出版了《淺薄:互聯(lián)網(wǎng)如何毒化了我們的大腦》一書。網(wǎng)絡真的使我們變笨了么？

 

 

 

這種聲音已經(jīng)不是第一次出現(xiàn)了......

 

 

 

我們最熟悉的聲音來自尼爾·波茲曼的“娛樂至死”。這本書里作者痛斥電視這個新興媒介除了娛樂什么也不會。波茲曼十分懷念印刷術時代的理性精神，但通過讀書來獲取知識和鍛煉思考的行為在網(wǎng)絡時代遇到了更大的沖擊。所以卡爾站出來高呼：“網(wǎng)絡使我們變笨了！”

 

 

 

事實真的如此嗎？

 

 

 

我們生活在一個信息時代，“上網(wǎng)”已經(jīng)成為了我們?nèi)粘Ｉ�活必不可少的技��，但你知道如何正確地使用互聯(lián)網(wǎng)，并從中受益嗎？

 

We live in an information age. The Internet is an inevitable tool in our daily life. Almost every college student knows how to use the Internet, but do they really know how to benefit from it?

我經(jīng)�？吹脚笥褌兩暇W(wǎng)看電影、聊天、玩游戲。在我看來，互聯(lián)網(wǎng)使大學生懶惰，確實讓人“變笨”了。

 

I often see my friends and classmates surf the Internet to watch movies, chat and play games. In my view, the Internet makes college students lazy and harms their intelligence.

大學生經(jīng)常用搜索引擎搜索論文和其他工作所需要的資料。但搜索引擎上的內(nèi)容冗雜，沒有經(jīng)過專業(yè)知識過濾。很多大學生都是不動腦子直接“復制粘貼”……

 

College students often use Google or Baidu to search information for a paper or project work. The problem is, there is so much information on the Internet, many students don’t filter it and just copy, paste and blend it together in their homework.

 

 

 

在這個過程中，他們只是“無情的復制粘貼機器”，并沒有思考收集到的信息是否專業(yè)可信，以及該信息的權威性是否適用于學術領域。

 

In the process of gathering information,they don’t think about its credibility or if it’s authoritative enough to use in an academic context.They are just copying machines with no brains of their own.

常見短語：surf the internet 上網(wǎng)

 

例句：He loves to surf at the beach during summer. 他喜歡在夏天的時候去海邊沖浪。

 

 

 

2. filter n./ v.過濾器；過濾  

 

常見短語：air filter 空氣過濾器, filter out 過濾掉

 

例句：The coffee is made by passing hot water through a filter containing ground coffee. 咖啡是通過裝有咖啡粉的過濾器過濾熱水制成的。

 

 

 

3. blend adj.混合；融合

There is no doubt that the Internet is helpful in our daily life, but college students should master how to use it.

 

甄別信息來源

 

互聯(lián)網(wǎng)只是我們了解世界的一個工具，但并非所有的信息都是真實的，關鍵在于學會辨別。

 

The Internet is just a tool for us to know more about the world, but not all information on the Internet is true. The key point is that we should use our brains to process all this information.

 

正確地使用互聯(lián)網(wǎng)

 

互聯(lián)網(wǎng)不會讓我們變笨，我們應該做的是思考如何更加正確地使用互聯(lián)網(wǎng)，讓互聯(lián)網(wǎng)為我們服務，而不是成為互聯(lián)網(wǎng)的奴隸，被它洗腦。

 

The Internet isn’t dumbing us down. The problem is in ourselves. We should use the Internet wisely and let the Internet serve our purposes rather than us becoming slaves to the Internet and brainwashed by it.
