1. stand someone up

意為“放某人鴿子”。

We were scheduled to go out for a movie tonight, but he stood me up again because his roommates invited him to a bar. 

我們原本說好了今晚要去看電影的，不過他又放我鴿子了，因為他的室友邀請他去酒吧玩。

2. blow someone off

意為“放鴿子，爽約”。

We were supposed to meet for dinner last weekend, but she blew me off. She said she had to go shopping for a new phone – can you believe that? 

我們上周原本應(yīng)該一起吃頓晚飯的，但是她卻放我鴿子。她說她必須去買部新手機，你信嗎？

3. be a no-show

No-show意為“未按約定到場者，未如約出席者”，所以be a no-show意為“爽約”。

I don’t even bother inviting her to parties anymore because she’s always a no-show. 

我甚至都懶得邀請她參加聚會了，因為她總是爽約。

4. beg off

意為“爽約”。

Sorry, I have an important meeting, so I’ll have to beg off. 

不好意思，我有個非常重要的會議，所以我得爽約了。

5. flake out (on sb)

意為“放（某人）鴿子，爽約”。

– Are you coming to the party tonight?

– I’m not sure. I might flake out. I’m feeling a bit tired.

— 你今晚會來參加派對嗎？

— 不確定，我可能會爽約。我感覺有點累了。

I can’t believe she flaked outon us at the last minute and didn’t show up to the party.
