Dillon Craig was confused when the cat in his arms began to move at the neck – he had never held a purring (發(fā)出呼嚕聲的) cat before.

當(dāng)Dillon Craig懷里的貓開(kāi)始在“蹭蹭”他的時(shí)候，他有點(diǎn)困惑——Dillon Craig從來(lái)沒(méi)有抱過(guò)一只會(huì)發(fā)出呼嚕聲的貓!

Kristi Cooney, the president of Good Sense Dogs, was there to explain to the 18-year-old that it just meant the cat was happy.

Craig, like most of the kids Cooney works with, had limited experience with animals before taking Ahead with Tails classes, a program by Good Sense Dogs. The program is meant to help students develop kindness toward animals.

Craig和Cooney項(xiàng)目里大多數(shù)孩子一樣——在參加“Good Sense Dogs”開(kāi)設(shè)的“Ahead with Tails”課程之前，對(duì)動(dòng)物的認(rèn)知有限。這個(gè)項(xiàng)目旨在培養(yǎng)學(xué)生對(duì)小動(dòng)物的愛(ài)心。

Cooney has been leading Ahead with Tails for nearly three years, providing youth with the opportunity to take care of animals and develop vocational (職業(yè)的) skills by training dogs.

Cooney負(fù)責(zé)“Ahead with Tails”項(xiàng)目已經(jīng)有近三年的時(shí)間了。這個(gè)項(xiàng)目是通過(guò)訓(xùn)練狗狗，為年輕人提供照顧動(dòng)物以及學(xué)習(xí)職業(yè)技能的機(jī)會(huì)。

Cooney hopes that students can extend (擴(kuò)展) the skills they’ve developed in the program to human relationships as well.

Cooney希望學(xué)生能夠?qū)⑺麄冊(cè)陧?xiàng)目中學(xué)到的東西，靈活擴(kuò)展到他們的人際關(guān)系中去。

Cooney said she realized that by bringing animals to youth, she might be able to foster (培養(yǎng)) students’ compassion (同情心) and ability to put themselves in others’ shoes.

Cooney說(shuō)，她意識(shí)到讓青少年親近動(dòng)物，或許能夠培養(yǎng)他們的同情心和共情能力。（一起做一個(gè)柔軟又可愛(ài)的人吧！）
