The typhoon names come from animals, plants, places and even the food of each country. For example, Megi, a tropical storm that hit the Philippines in April, is the Korean word for catfish (鯰魚). Most names are repeated after a certain period. But some are never used again if a typhoon associated with the name was devastatingly (破壞性地) destructive, such as Haiyan. |
