據(jù)《華盛頓郵報》報道，當?shù)貢r間9月2日，一架易捷航空的航班宣布延誤后，發(fā)生了令人意想不到的事，一名乘客自告奮勇想要開飛機。
這架航班計劃從英國曼徹斯特起飛去往西班牙阿利坎特，但由于缺少飛行員，所以將延誤數(shù)個小時。
For an EasyJet plane full of people heading from Manchester, England, to Alicante, Spain, on Monday, that announcement was followed by something unexpected. To get everyone off the ground, a fellow passenger would fly the plane.
乘客米歇爾·波茨（Michelle Potts）說，她到達機場后發(fā)現(xiàn)，這架航班將延誤幾個小時。但是航班信息突然更新，通知乘客航班已準備就緒，她立馬趕往登機口。
她在自己的海外社交媒體賬號上寫道：
"Get to boarding and asked the guy at the desk what's going on. He said, 'Oh, your pilot's gone missing, but a guy that's going on your flight is going to fly the plane.' REALLY CASUALLY!!!"
“我去登機口時，問工作人員發(fā)生了什么。 工作人員用一種很輕松的語氣回答， ‘您這架航班的飛行員不見了，但是一名乘客將會代替他開走飛機。’這也太隨意了吧！”
原來，這位“自告奮勇的乘客”邁克爾·布拉德利（Michael Bradley），是一名正在度假途中的易捷航空飛行員。
The informality of his delivery was because the "guy" was Michael Bradley, an EasyJet pilot heading out for his own vacation.
邁克爾在電話中對航空公司說他正著急去度假。
"I'd very much like to go on holiday. And if you need a favor, I'm standing here ready to go."
“我真的非常想去度假，如果需要幫助，我已經(jīng)準備好了。”
易捷航空發(fā)言人表示，該航空公司在其網(wǎng)站上發(fā)布了延遲信息。由于法國空中交通管制計算機前一天發(fā)生故障，所以航班需要新的機組人員。
The airline needed to bring in standby personnel Monday after delays were caused by a French air-traffic-control computer failure on Sunday, the spokesman said.
由于新安排的機長到這兒需要一些時間，所以飛行將被推遲兩個小時。但在安檢前，邁克爾自己想試試。畢竟作為一個飛行員，他已經(jīng)在機場了。
He said he called EasyJet and explained that he was "doing nothing" at the terminal and had his license and identification with him. (He was not in uniform, but none of the passengers seemed to mind.)
他打電話給易捷航空，說他正好帶著飛行執(zhí)照和身份證明，并且在航站樓“無所事事”。（雖然他沒有穿制服，但沒有乘客介意這一點。）
不到一分鐘后，他的電話響了：“易捷航空打電話給我說，‘拜托求求你，可以請你駕駛飛機去阿利坎特嗎？’”
"They phoned me back and said, 'Please, please, pretty please with a big cherry on top, can you fly the airplane to Alicante?' "
易捷航空的一份聲明稱，該航空公司對一位在度假期間“自愿駕駛航班”的飛行員表示感激。根據(jù)聲明，這是完全符合規(guī)定的。該航空公司稱，他已經(jīng)休了四天假，休息得很好，法律允許他飛行。
A statement from EasyJet said the airline was "grateful" to one of its pilots who "volunteered to operate the flight" while he was on vacation. The substitution was "fully in line with regulations," according to the statement. He had been off the previous four days, was well rested and was allowed by law to fly, the airline said.
