英文標(biāo)點(diǎn)符號與中文標(biāo)點(diǎn)符號的使用有所不同，能掌握并正確使用英文標(biāo)點(diǎn)符號也是英文寫作的基本要求。
直接疑問句
直接疑問句末尾用問號，間接疑問句末尾用句號。
直接疑問句：What is she doing tonight?
間接疑問句：I wonder what she’s doing tonight.
直接疑問句：The question is, Does anyone support this legislation?
間接疑問句：The question was whether anyone supported the legislation.
句中的直接疑問句
直接疑問句出現(xiàn)在長句中，一般以句號結(jié)尾。注意下面例子，句法上要求使用逗號的位置以問號替換了逗號。
Would they make it on time? she wondered.
The key question, Can the two sides reach a compromise? was not answered.
“What are we having for dinner?” his son asked.
著作標(biāo)題含有問號的情況
與上述例子不同，若問號是著作標(biāo)題的一部分，則按句法要求保留逗號。

“Is He Living or Is He Dead?,” by Mark Twain, is one of my favorite stories.
帶有問號的標(biāo)題出現(xiàn)在句末，且句子本身應(yīng)以問號或句號結(jié)束時(shí)，省略應(yīng)加的問號或句號。

以疑問形式表達(dá)的請求要以句號結(jié)尾。

用于表達(dá)不確定
編輯時(shí)可使用問號表示不確定，標(biāo)注在圓括號或方括號中。一些專家會(huì)在不確定的詞和左括號之間留出一個(gè)空格，另一些專家則省略此等空格，用例如下：
The patient reported taking 15(?) milligrams of alprazolam.
